14U Blue had trouble shaking off the cold its last tournament despite the warmth of the Phoenix sun.  After losing to the Nogales Roadrunners in 5 innings.  The the boys in Blizzard blue scratched and clawed; battling their way to victory in their next two games.

Although, our early exit in the tournaments Gold semifinals came as a shock, perhaps, a bigger surprise for the tournament community was our victory over tournament champions AZ Desert Blaze.  Two clutch doubles one from backstop Ryan Calton and the other from outfielder Brandon Meyer put the Blizzard Blue into the game (2-3), and the other gave them the lead (4-3).  The game would not have been a contest had Cody Wetmore and John Horner not put together absolute gems out on the bump.  The defense still thawing their gloves had three errors in the first two inning.  Cody composed was tenacity incarnate, and what could have been an early eruption by the Blaze bats was quelled to a minor rumbling.  John Horner, a true competitor, put the Blaze bats in the barn and closed the door, with 5--count it 5--shutout innings. It was a solid victory.

Semi-finals pitted Blizzard Blue against a familiar foe--Nogales.  The boys were anxious for a second crack, but were unable to find the right ACME device to overtake the Roadrunners.  Losing 7-1 the boys left unsatisfied and hopefully hungry for their next chance between the lines.  Whatever may come gentlemen its been a pleasure!
