2009-2010 BLIZZARD ELITE With tryouts in July, Minnesota Baseball Academy (MBA) will select the top players to be a part of the largest traveling baseball program in the Midwest ‚ the Minnesota Blizzard ! MBA‚ Minnesota Blizzard Elite program (13u-18u) has been designed to aggressively assemble the most dedicated and elite baseball players in the Midwest. Our programs goal is to create opportunities for all players by way of quality instruction, national tournaments and exposure to the college and professional ranks. Since 2003, the Minnesota Blizzard has placed in the top four 21 times in national tournaments including nine championships and has produced over 75 college and professional players including Joe Loftus (Vanderbilt/Twins), Chase Hentges (KC Royals), Justin Gominsky (U of Minnesota), Madison Boer (Oregon), Sam Ryan (U of M/Twins) and Brad Hand (Florida Marlins). The Blizzard Elite Season and Blizzard Post-Season The Minnesota Blizzard season begins with tryouts in July (see Tryouts) with summer instructs starting in August every Tuesday and Thursday (11th-27th) at Rich Valley Sports Complex in Inver Grove Heights, MN. The official kick-off to the fall season starts with a baseball camp run by MBA and Steve Lombardozzi (87‚ World Series Champion) (8/31-9/2). The Blizzard will break for Labor Day and start practice and double header games starting September 13th and play every Sunday through October 4th (8-10 games). On October 3rd, Minnesota Baseball Academy will hold its largest college and pro showcase (see AFBL for showcase details) to date with every school and organization in the Midwest invited. For ages 10u-16u, we'll be holding a skills competition which will include a hitting contest, road runner race, gold glove competition and golden arm contest. The season will end with a 3-day double-elimination AFBL (Advanced Fall Baseball League) Tournament (10/9-10/11) with seeding determined by each teams AFBL win/loss record. Weekly updates including team records and standings, weekly stat leaders and schedules will be posted on our website at www.minnesotabaseballacademy.com After our fall season, the Blizzard Elite teams will travel to two tournaments with the option to continue on to a Blizzard Post-Season which will include one, two or three more tournaments. More info on the Post-Season at the parent meeting August 5th. The Blizzard Post-Season gives players and families more options (2nd sport) and financially flexible. We‚Äôll be traveling to such places as Cedar Rapids, Las Vegas, Arizona, California and more ! We'll practice outside as long as possible, but when the snow arrives, we'll hold our weekly (weekend) practices at Minnesota Baseball Academy in Rogers, MN. |
