Slow Motion Video Analysis

Minnesota Baseball Academy has implemented Dartfish slow-motion video analysis software into our programs.

This high-tech equipment breaks down a swing, the pitching mechanics and fielding footwork frame by frame enabling our instructors to provide even better feedback for our students.

You might be familiar with this software if you’ve watched MLB’s Home Run Derby or the recent Olympics in Athens or Torino.

Each player that participates in our video analysis program will have their video emailed to them and a personalized CD will be given to them with the progress they’ve made over the course of their personalized program.

We are proud to present this newest feature of Minnesota Baseball Academy to all of our customers including campers, personal lessons and organizations that need to utilize this for their tryouts.

Tryouts

This year, we’ll be using our Dartfish slow motion video analysis equipment for our tryouts. Minnesota Baseball Academy will be recording each player and will send the organization a DVD with each player’s swing, throw and ground ball that he took during the tryout. At the end of the tryout, we’ll give the organization a complete sheet with each player’s individual score. A sample of how we score is below.

Minnesota Baseball Academy has the ability to hold tryouts and can provide a non-biased grade system for all your players. We evaluate hitting skills, hitting mechanics, arm strength, pitching mechanics, defensive abilities and base running. Any organization has the choice to use their grading system or we can tailor one for you. Rates are on a per player basis. For more information, please contact us at 612.790.4700

Quantifiable Tryout Results

The results of your players are quantifiable through our system. Our evaluators have all either played college baseball or currently or former professional baseball players. We use stop watches and radar guns for our 40 yard dash and arm strength stations. When you receive the results, your organization will know where and how each point value was awarded.

Although we are open to suggestions in regards to what areas are scored, we have found the best results in the following areas.
1 – 10 point system with 10 being the highest

Hitting (50%)
Each player will receive 5-8 pitches from a pitching machine
Points awarded: Mechanics, contact and overall pop

Fielding & Arm Strength (40%)
All players are hit six balls: 3 straight on, 1 glove side, 1 on the run.
Points awarded: mechanics, arm strength and athleticism

Speed (10%)
All players run 40 time:
Points awarded on: Timed run
